Damco offers high tech warehouse for growing numbers of customers

by Press Release on 2011-11-10

11 November 2011 (Global Logistics Media) Damco - one of the world’s leading providers of freight forwarding and supply chain management solutions – is providing state of the art warehouse for consumers and electronic customers at Jebel Ali in Dubai. A brand new facility is ready for the growing demand of Damco’s increasing customer base that uses Jebel Ali as an international hub.

Jebel Ali has gradually become the logistical centre of the UAE and as such had to handle an increased amount of cargo. The establishment of the Jebel Ali Free Zone accelerated the trend. It is an industrial area surrounding the port, which allows the international companies relocating to the area to enjoy the special privileges of the free zone. These include exemption from corporate tax for fifteen years, no personal income tax, no import or export duties, no restriction on currency, and easy labour recruitment.

These are all factors which have made the area very interesting for companies and logistics providers.

“Dubai is very much a hub for multinational companies and other international industries. We have experienced an increase in demand from our customers, so we have expanded our facilities in Dubai with a 12, 000 m2 new facility”, said Morten Laerkholm, Global Head of Consumer Electronics, Damco.

“The new Dubai cargo facility is located in close proximity to the Jebel Ali International Airport and Jebel Ali Port, which is considered as one of the world’s largest container handlers, so we can offer a very effective infrastructure for our customers.”

Despite the new facility Damco is already monitoring market for extra space as demand is constantly increasing.
